DUBAI // A university lecturer who supplied his students with crystal meth has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined Dh20,000.
The 27-year-old Filipino lecturer, CT, was arrested during a raid at the home of one his students, BM.
Dubai Police anti-drugs agents received a tip that BM was using crystal meth in June last year.
When police arrived to carry out a search of BM's home, they found 0.43 grams of the drug in his wallet.
He told police his professor, who was in the house at the time of the raid, had given him the drugs.
One of the arresting officers told prosecutors that the professor was found in a bedroom of BM's house with female juvenile defendant, SF.
The students and their teacher were taken to the Dubai Police anti-narcotics department to be tested and forensic results showed that the three had consumed crystal meth.
All three confessed to police that they consumed the drugs, although CT denied the charged in court.
CT was sentenced yesterday by Judge Mahir Salama at the Dubai Criminal Court.
The two students were referred to the Dubai Juvenile Court to face drug charges.
