Tyre thieves caught red-handed at Dubai Police garage, officer says
DUBAI // Three mechanics at the Dubai Police garage have been accused of attempting to steal used tyres.
Police officer YM said he caught the men red-handed at midnight on December 3 last year, Dubai Criminal Court was told. Pakistanis SR, 34, and MF, 23, and Bangladeshi MR, 25, were trying to hide the tyres as they boarded the workers' transportation bus that shuttles them to their residence in Sharjah.
"I was at the Dubai Police's mechanic shop and saw the defendant hiding the tyres," said YM, who called and reported the incident. "They confessed to me willingly."
The men denied trying to steal the tyres. A verdict is expected on March 13.
