Two accused of attempting to bribe police

DUBAI // Two men offered Dh20,000 in bribes to police officers, seeking to encourage the officers to help them rob other men who were to pay into an African magicians' investment scheme, a court heard yesterday.

The Syrian investor MD, 33, and his compatriot, MI, an electrician, have been charged with attempting to bribe public officials.

The men denied the charges yesterday at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance. The case has been adjourned to February 15.
