Ten year prison term for Dubai drug smuggler
DUBAI // A man who smuggled 150kg of hashish into the country has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Police sent an undercover agent to meet Iranian MA, 27, after they received a tip he was dealing drugs.
The agent met with MA near the California Hotel in Al Naif to take possession of the drugs. MA handed over a suitcase with nearly 50kg of hashish. A further 100kg of the drugs were hidden in his apartment.
The Iranian initially denied a charge of drug dealing in Dubai Criminal Court, but under questioning by the judge he confessed. He was fined Dh50,000 and will be deported after completing his prison term.
