Technician assaulted woman during TV installation, court told

DUBAI // A TV technician sexually assaulted a housewife after installing her TV last August, a court heard today.

MO, 30, from Bangladesh, told the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance that he did not mean to touch the woman's breast or grab her from behind. Prosecutors charged him with sex assault.

The woman, 29, Filipina, told prosecutors that about 5pm on August 16, her husband asked MO to install a new TV they had purchased. The next day, they called him back to change the television's position on the wall.

She said that when he came, he told her to close the door. He reinstalled the TV and asked her to turn it on to ensure it was working.

"At that moment, and as I was looking for the remote control, he hugged me from the back and touched my breast," she told prosecutors.

She told her husband, who accompanied her to Al Qusais police station and reported the incident.

A verdict is expected on October 30.
