DUBAI // A photographer who threatened to post on the internet digitally altered images of one of his female subjects because she refused to sleep with him has been given a suspended one-year jail term.
The Criminal Court also ordered him to be deported immediately.
SE, 30, from Iran, threatened to scandalise the woman after she rejected his advances. He told her he would use photographs he had taken while trying to win an advertising contract from the beauty salon which she owned.
"He started threatening to post my pictures [on the internet]. I assumed he would alter them because the photos he took of me were normal," said the woman.
On July 21, 2011, the man sent text messages to the woman saying that he would post the pictures unless she changed her mind.
During his trial at the Criminal Court the man denied threatening the woman. He claimed he sent the threats on the woman's request because she wanted to use the messages as a template so she could threaten someone else.
He claimed she then used the messages to falsely accuse him because they had disagreed over a weight loss programme he had paid Dh2,000 to undergo at her beauty centre.
