Six-month jail term for man who assaulted Dubai teen

DUBAI // A 20-year-old who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy in a school playground during an evening football game was today sentenced to six months in prison.

KS, an Emirati, was one of four youths who ganged up on the child when he arrived at the game with his younger brother on April 11 last year.

The four youths - who included two of the boy's schoolmates - pushed the siblings into a car before threatening the older one with a knife and demanding he have sex with them.

"[One of them] told me if I refused then they would rape my younger brother," said the boy.

The four attackers then took him to the bathroom of the playground and sexually assaulted him, taking turns to film the attack on a mobile phone.

A few days later a maths teacher at the boy's school found the footage and informed the boy's mother, who called police.

The boy said he knew his four attackers because they played football together before.

At the Criminal Court, KS denied a charge of sexual assault. The court received medical reports that found no evidence of forceful sexual assault.

Other youths accused of involvement in the attack have been referred to the Juvenile Court.
