Sex video prompts man to sue ex-wife for adultery

Man sues ex-wife for adultery after seeing a video on his friend's phone featuring her having sex with another man.

ABU DHABI // A man is suing his ex-wife for adultery after seeing a video on his friend's phone featuring her having sex with another man.

The Criminal Court heard today that the Emirati MH had already divorced his Moroccan wife when she returned to her home country to give birth to their fourth child, a girl. When the girl was born the mother asked to put her ex-husband's name on the birth certificate.

However, about the same time the ex-husband was shown a video on a friend's mobile phone that featured his wife having sex with another man. The friend told him the sex had occurred while she was still married to him.

He then filed for civil compensation at the Criminal Court, where he is seeking temporary compensation of Dh21,000 before pursuing his case at the civil court. The full amount of compensation he is seeking is not known.

A report by an expert witness handed to the Criminal Court said that eyes, nose and mouth of the woman in the video matched those of the wife. The expert also noted such features did not change with time, but stopped short of saying the ex-wife was the person featured in the video.

In today's hearing, the man's lawyer asked for the expert to appear in court so he could question him. The judge agreed and adjourned the case until mid-September.

The ex-wife is out on bail.
