Sentence upheld for man with liquid-cocaine soaked clothes in Dubai

DUBAI // A drug smuggler who tried to import 53 kilograms of liquid cocaine into the UAE by soaking it into his clothes had his ten-year jail term and Dh100,000 fine upheld by the Appeal Court today.

JQ, 32, from Turkey, was stopped by police after arriving at Dubai International Airport from Brazil shortly after midnight on July 18 last year.

When they searched his two bags they found his clothes had been soaked in liquid cocaine.

One of his bags contained 28.8kg of the drug, the other bag contained 24.2kg.
