Sentence cut for man who tried to rape child

A man who tried to rape a 10-year-old girl in Dubai last month had his sentence reduced to a year in prison at the Dubai Court of Appeal.
AB, a 27-year-old labourer, had originally been jailed for three years by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance. He will be deported at the end of the jail term.
The attack happened in a deserted area near Dubai Sport City on January 10. The girl, who is British, was riding her bike when she was approached and assaulted by two men.
Police tracked down and arrested both men but the victim was able to identify only AB.
