DUBAI // A policeman stole a BlackBerry and used a stolen driving licence to sell it to a shop in Ajman, a court heard today.
Prosecutors said that MS, 25, an Emirati, stole the BlackBerry from a desk at his workplace on November 13 last year. He then drove to a phone shop in Ajman where he used a driving licence that was not his to identify himself when selling the device.
The court heard the real owner of the licence had left it at a petrol station as a guarantee he would return to pay for fuel, but the policeman paid the outstanding bill and took the licence instead.
The policeman was charged with theft, illegally obtaining a driving licence belonging to another person and with using that licence.
He was not present at the Criminal Court to enter a plea.
The case was adjourned to May 30.
