Officer, friend named in kidnapping, rape case

DUBAI // A police officer helped an unemployed friend kidnap, threaten and rape a man last year, a court heard this morning.

A verdict was expected in the case this morning at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

The Emirati KM, 23, met with AS, 21, on Jumeirah Road at 12.30pm on September 29, 2010, court records said.

AS told prosecutors that he rode with KM in a car driven by a third man. The two drove him to the villa of EA, the police officer, claiming they wanted to get KM's car.

Prosecutors said EA met them in Al Safa and they continued to his villa.

When they arrived, records show that they allegedly forced AS into the villa in an isolated room where KM slapped him and tore his clothes.

KM allegedly pushed the AS to the ground face-down, then the driver – who was not charged, according to records – threw a table on AS' back to restrain him.

Prosecutors said EA helped KM move AS to the bathroom, where KM raped him twice. After that, records show, EA and KM assaulted AS and injured his left arm with a knife, then threatened to kill him and his family members if he reported the incident to police.

AS testified that they dropped him off at Jumeirah after giving him clean clothes.

AS' brother, MS, 35, spoke with AS and found out what happened two days after the alleged incident, and called police.

A forensic report confirmed evidence of rape.
