Mother and three sons stand accused of murder and assault

ABU DHABI // An Emirati mother and three of her sons allegedly burned one man to death and sexually assaulted another, a court heard yesterday. MRM appeared before the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance charged with killing an Emirati man, assisted by her sons. R S, a son, was also charged with attempting to kill another man, identified as O Z, in the same manner. O Z did not suffer serious injuries. Prosecutors say MRM and another son tied up the first victim, poured petrol on his body and set him on fire.

Two sons, both of whom have the same initials, SS, were charged with sexually assaulting OZ before their mother and brother tied him up and attempted to burn him. All the defendants pleaded not guilty. The judge adjourned the case until August 24 for the court to hear whether the family of the dead victim wants blood money.
