Molestor gets one year in jail

DUBAI // A man who molested an 11-year-old girl in her bed after breaking into her family's house in Al Rafaa was sentenced to a year in jail followed by deportation.

AT, a 29-year-old Indian, broke into the home of MB in the Gold Market area, entered her daughter's bedroom at around 2am and molested her while she was asleep.

The incident happened on May 14.

MB, a 37-year-old Indian housewife, testified that her daughter, PH, woke her up.

"She was frightened and told me that someone was in the room."

She said the girl told her she was awakened by someone touching her bottom. The man ran away.

"I got up and locked my door from inside but then someone started trying to unlock the door," MB said. She added that she started screaming for help and called police, who found the main door to her apartment open.

The girl told prosecutors that she had seen the defendant one time before the incident in the building's lift. His visa lists his occupation as servant.
