Man threatened to kill witness, court told

Dubai // A man who assaulted a woman in an attempted robbery threatened to kill a witness, a court heard today.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance heard that MS, a 30-year-old from India, and an accomplice, dragged an Emirati woman from her parked car as her children watched on in Sharjah last March.

However, BM, a 28-year-old female Pakistani manager, rushed to the woman's rescue and scared the men off.

Shortly before MS was to stand trial over the incident, BM told police that she had received calls and text messages threatening that she would be killed if she testified.

"I know all about you but you don't know how dangerous I am, I will kill you if you went to court," one of the text messages said.

The Emirati woman testified that BM called her in April and told her she was scared to testify because MS had threatened her.

MS failed to show in court and will be summoned for a hearing on March 7.
