Man posed as CID officer in rape attempt, court hears

DUBAI // A Pakistani driver posing as a CID officer tried to rape a 28-year-old maid, the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance heard yesterday.

The alleged victim told prosecutors that last November, D K, 30, forced his way into her employer’s house after she had opened the door, by claiming to be a CID officer.

She said he walked from room to room pretending to be searching for something and writing down notes on papers he was carrying. He then took down her telephone number, she said.

The woman said that when they arrived in her bedroom, he grabbed her, pushed her on to the bed and tried to rape her. She resisted his attempts and started kicking him and screaming for help.

She said he tried to smother her with a pillow several times, but she fought him off. She then told him she would have sex with him, but needed a glass of water first. She told prosecutors she tried to talk him out of rape and said that she knew he was not a police officer. He then ran off, but she said she followed him, screaming, and a passer-by wrote down his car’s registration number.

D K denied the charges. He will be referred separately to the Misdemeanours Court to face charges of trespassing and impersonating a police officer.

The next hearing is scheduled for February 20, where D K will be appointed a defence lawyer.
