Man pleads guilty in drug bust

A man involved in one of Dubai's biggest ever drug busts has pleaded guilty to two of the three charges he faced at Dubai's criminal court of first instance today. However, HA denied the main charge of possession with intent to selling 709kg of Captagon pills. The 29-year-old Syrian man was arrested on November 11 last year, after smuggling the 4.2 million pills into the UAE in 148 textile rolls through the Jebel Ali Port, and storing them in a warehouse in Al Ghusais. He admitted to possession with intent to consume nine Diazepam capsules and to consuming another psychotropic drug. Dubai's biggest ever seizure of amphetamines was concluded after a three-week operation, which was prompted by a tip-off from Saudi authorities. * The National
