ABU DHABI // A man seeking Dh100 million in compensation for a phobia he developed after an object fell onto his car from a construction site was today awarded less than Dh6,000.
The man said the object hit his car while he was stopped at a traffic light and that he developed a phobia of construction sites soon after. He said he was now too terrified to pass any area undergoing construction. It was not clear what the object was.
An expert evaluated the damage to the car at Dh950, while the civil court decided Dh5,000 was appropriate compensation for the phobia.
The court cited civil code 292, which says the value of the compensation should be equal to the value of the damage.
