DUBAI // A maid stabbed a fellow worker to death, a court heard yesterday.
Prosecutors said F Y, from Ethiopia, stabbed Hana Shamso several times during the attack, which took place at their employer’s home on July 9.
The women, in their twenties, were two of 12 domestic helpers living in a small annex to the villa in Bur Dubai.
The accused maid was said to have planned the murder, taking the knife from the kitchen before waiting for Ms Shamso. When she attacked, Ms Shamso tried to defend herself and stabbed the maid in the neck with a meat skewer.
Some of the other domestic helpers alerted the police.
The Criminal Court charged the maid with premeditated murder. She did not appear in court to enter a plea.
The next hearing is expected on December 23.
