Maid admits to 2009 theft, court told
DUBAI // A maid on the run for two years confessed that she stole clothes, perfumes, money and gold from her sponsor's house before fleeing, a court was told this morning.
AB, 29, from the Indonesia, told the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance that she took the items and ran away with another maid who worked at the same house. She was sentenced to three months in prison followed by deportation.
Prosecutors said that the theft happened on November 8, 2009.
The court also was told that AB violated residency regulations as she worked for another man after she absconded from her sponsor.
Prosecutors said AB also confessed during investigations.
