Life sentence for trafficking and raping girl

DUBAI // A man will spend life in prison for trafficking, imprisoning and raping a minor, a court ruled this morning.

The Criminal Court of First Instance convicted the Bangladeshi MH, 30, of human trafficking and rape of a minor.

MN, 24; MA, 28; AA, 27; AS, 22; and MS, 25, all from Bangladesh, were convicted of locking up the minor against her will and forcing her into the sex industry. They were sentenced to five years each.

KJ, 25, from Ethiopia, and MP, 27, Indonesian, were sentenced to a year in prison each for their roles in the trafficking.

All will be deported after their prison terms.

The victim told prosecutors she arrived in Dubai on October 10, 2010, and MH took her to a one-bedroom flat, where he raped her five times.

After being moved to a different flat, where she was forced to work as a prostitute, she managed to make a phone call for help.
