Khalfan drops Twitter defamation case
DUBAI // The chief of Dubai Police has decided not to pursue a complaint against an unemployed man accused of defaming him on the Twitter social network.
The Dubai Court of Misdemeanours was expected to rule this morning on defamation charges faced by the 42-year-old Emirati ME, but the case was dismissed following a waiver from Lt General Dahi Khalfan bin Tamim.
A 35-year-old police officer who lodged the complaint on Lt Gen Khalfan's behalf said this was not the first time the police chief had decided not to pursue a defamation case against the man, who he hoped would learn from the experience.
