Hidden camera 'filmed woman using bathroom'

A manager at a Jebel Ali software firm installed a hidden camera in his company's bathroom to film the female receptionist, a court heard on Thursday.

FS, 37, from Syria, denied offending the woman's honour and attempting to sexually assault her when he appeared at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

Prosecutors said FS had filmed the woman using the facility on a number of occasions.

The woman told the court that she had been visiting the washroom on October 8 when she noticed the camera.

"While I was using the toilet I spotted a black device next to the mirror with a red light flashing," she said.

"I was surprised to see that it was some sort of a video recording device that has been planted carefully in there," she added.

She then removed the camera and connected it to her computer. When she uploaded the images she saw various images and videos of her exposing herself.

The receptionist reported the incident to the Jebel Ali police station and FS was called in for questioning.

The court will issue its verdict on February 27.
