Gang attacked two brothers with meat cleaver, Dubai court told

DUBAI // Three men attacked a motorist at a petrol station with a meat cleaver, a court heard today.

The trio attacked MA, an Emirati, on January 27 last year, but turned their attention to his policeman brother, EA, 22, when he ran to the aid of his sibling.

One of the three men, KK, 32, also Emirati, then sank the cleaver into the policeman's forehead, prosecutors told the Criminal Court. The blow left the policeman with what was described in court as a "permanent disability".

The three men ran away after the assault, while the two brothers were taken to Rashid Hospital.

Prosecutors said that KK had a criminal record of similar assaults, but he denied involvement, telling the court simply: "I did not do it."

A verdict is expected on February 25. The other two attackers remain at large.
