Former judge fails to appear for trial

ABU DHABI // A former judge accused of driving around with a wanted man in his car was today said to be in the custody of national security forces.

When the former judge failed to appear at the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court his lawyer complained that the whereabouts of his client were unknown to him and that he had been planning to file a missing person report. However, he was then told the former judge was in the custody of national security forces.

The head of the criminal court, Chief Justice Sayed Abdul Baseer, adjourned the case until 27 May. He said that if national security failed to deliver the former judge on that date that the case would be removed from the court's roll.
