Dubai waiter flashed at waitresses, court hears

DUBAI // A drunk waiter whistled at two female colleagues before flashing his genitalia at them, a court heard today.

The 27-year-old Indian AB - who works for a five-star hotel in Jumeirah Beach Residence - whistled at the two Filipina waitresses CT, 24, and SG, 26, before taking off his trousers and dropping his underwear.

According to court records the waiter was "totally drunk" at the time. When his genitals came into view the two women screamed, ran to their room and called hotel security, who then informed police.

When arrested, the waiter said he was very depressed and very drunk, but during a later interview he denied exposing himself, saying he thought he had been inside the men's toilets at the time. It was unclear why he was depressed.

He did not appear in court to enter a plea. As he has failed to appear a number of times the court fined the director of the police station where he is in custody Dh4,000.

The next hearing will be on September 30 to summon the waiter, who faces charges of indecent exposure and consuming alcohol.
