Cleaner jailed for molesting Emirates air hostess

DUBAI // A man was sentenced to six months in jail yesterday for attacking and sexually molesting an Emirates Airline flight attendant at her home in Dubai Marina. SS, a 27-year-old from India, was a cleaner at the building the 24-year-old air hostess was living in at the time of the attack on May 1. He had offered to carry the woman's bags to her apartment.

The flight attendant said that she had tipped SS Dh20 for carrying her bags and that he then offered to assist her whenever she needed. "He gave me his number and as I turned my back to him, entering the flat, he grabbed me and pushed me in to the house holding my chest," she told prosecutors. The cleaner then attempted to kiss the woman but fled after she pushed him away and screamed. SS returned to the flat to apologise, but attacked the woman when she attempted to call police. 

The air hostess fought him off and pushed him out of the apartment. SS admitted molesting the woman but had denied attacking her. amustafa@thenational.ae
