Case of Sharjah man jailed for swearing to be reconsidered, court rules
ABU DHABI // The case of a man sentenced to a month in jail for swearing at another man should be looked at again, the Federal Supreme Court has ruled.
On January 22, a Sharjah court convicted the man for "committing a scandalous act that violates public modesty and ethics" when he raised his middle finger at the other man.
The verdict was upheld by Sharjah's Appeals Court, but the Federal Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the case should be reconsidered as it was not convinced the statement's of the accuser were sufficient proof of the charge.
