Bus theft case defendant skips hearing for second time

DUBAI // A man accused of stealing a bus and trying to sell it with a forged ownership certificate failed to appear for a second time at the Criminal Court of First Instance this morning.

MS, 20, a Pakistani, is charged with theft at night, forging a copy of an official document and forging the stamp of the Roads and Transport Authority.

Records state that on October 5, 2010, he stole a 2007 white van valued at Dh60,000 from his employer, which rents the machines. MS also faces separate charges that he stole a 1996 bus from his employer.

The company learnt of the thefts when an employee told a manager he had spotted one of the company's vehicles in a spare parts shop in Sharjah's Industrial Area 10.

The next hearing was scheduled for June 29.
