Brothers face murder charge over road rage death

ABU DHABI // Two Emirati brothers will face murder charges at the Criminal Court in connection with an attack on a 52-year-old motorist whose dying body was found by police at the side of the road, the judicial department announced today.

The motorist, who is also Emirati, told officers who arrived at the scene before he died that his car was repeatedly rammed by the vehicle behind after he refused to yield. He said the car then overtook him before forcing him to stop. Two men then stepped out before walking over, forcing him out of his vehicle and assaulting him with a wooden stick. They then left him at the side of one of the capital's roads.

The motorist was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. A forensics report found multiple fractures throughout his body and bleeding in his skull which caused his death.

The public prosecution referred HS and MS, both 24, to the court on charges of premeditated murder and vandalism.
