Brothers deny Abu Dhabi kidnapping charge

ABU DHABI // Three Emirati brothers accused of kidnapping one of their expatriate employees and forcing him to sign a cheque worth Dh200,000 claim he only pressed charges so that he could stay in the UAE a little while longer.

The Asian man was employed at the shop of one of the brothers. He claims that one day they asked him to accompany them home, but that once there they beat him, held him hostage and forced him to sign the cheque. He claims they also took his fingerprints before he managed to run away and report them to the police.

Today at the Criminal Court, the brothers denied his account, saying they were at their office jobs at the time the incident was alleged to have occurred. They added that the employee had been fired for stealing.

The case was adjourned.
