Bribe charge for Dubai immigration officer

DUBAI // An immigration officer at Dubai International Airport adjusted the statuses of more than 400 people in return for bribes, a court heard yesterday.

Prosecutors told the Criminal Court the Emirati A A, 30, would adjust each visa for Dh500. He was charged with three other men.

N M, 30, from Pakistan and M Q, who is not in custody, were said to have run a business in which they offered the service to the public.

S A, 43, from Pakistan, acted as a broker between the two and the immigration officer, in return for Dh100 per applicant.

S A denied the charges. The next hearing is set for December 12.
