Bogus cops stole wallet

DUBAI // Three bogus policemen assaulted a man walking with his wife near their home at International City's Moroccan cluster, the Criminal Court heard today.

The pair stepped out of a Nissan Sunny before showing MR, a 42-year-old mechanic from Bangladesh, a fake CID identification card. They then asked for the man's ID and when he reached for his wallet they snatched it and ran. The wallet contained Dh750.

Prosecutors charged RH, 24, and MJ, 32, both Pakistani lorry drivers, with robbery, assault and impersonating officials. A third man is on the run. They denied all charges and the hearing was adjourned to September 30.
