ADDC staff claims Dh10,000 bribe was meant for a widow, Abu Dhabi court hears

An Abu Dhabi Distribution Company employee accused of accepting a bribe claimed yesterday that Dh10,000 handed to him in an envelope was intended as a donation for a widow he knew.

The Palestinian data entry clerk is on trial at the Criminal Court accused of accepting the bribe from a developer in exchange for connecting the electricity of two towers in Khalifa City A.

Prosecutors said the developer reported the clerk to police and they caught him in a sting operation.

A verdict is expected on October 11.
