The UAE's anti-corruption watchdog says it has uncovered 10 cases in which more than Dh1 billion of public funds were misappropriated.
The State Audit Institution (SAI) said today that the cases had been referred to the public prosecution, according to the state news agency, WAM.
It said irregularities were discovered during audits that took place over the past two years, including acts of forgery, bribery and fraud.
Dr Harib Al Amimi, president of SAI, said he had documents supporting the allegations.
According to Federal Law No. 8 of 2011, the SAI is the UAE's official body responsible for detecting fraud and financial corruption.
