Multi-million album-selling Coldplay will help UAE residents ring in the new year with a concert in Abu Dhabi on December 31, it was announced today.
The concert, designed to mark the emirate hosting the Volvo Ocean Race, sees the return of the British band after a hugely successful concert at Emirates Palace hotel in 2009. The event is being hosted on a purpose-built stage next to the Volvo Ocean Race Destination Village on the Corniche Breakwater. Ticket details have yet to be announced.
Coldplay return on the heels of the release of their latest album, Mylo Xyloto, which went to number one in 30 countries. The concert is organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Flash Entertainment.
The 2011/2012 Volvo Ocean Race runs until January 14. The 38th race will feature a six-strong fleet and is expected to draw 100,000 fans. Full details, including ticket prices and times, are yet to be announced. Watch www.thinkflash.ae for more information.
