DUBAI // Grand Cinemas is offering refunds to IMAX ticket holders for today's screening of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
An equipment failure has compromised the audio and visual quality of the IMAX films, and a specialist from the UK is being flown in to resolve the issue, the cinema said in a note posted on its website today.
"We value our loyal customers and we reservedly apologise for this inconvenience," said Andy Fordham, the cinema's technical and digital cinema director.
Ticket holders can get a full Dh60 refund for the ticket and receive a voucher for a regular film at Grand Cinemas or a partial refund of Dh25 and a ticket for a regular screening of The Dark Knight Rises today and a voucher.
Cinema-goers can also trade in their IMAX ticket for another day and receive a voucher.
The equipment is expected to be repaired tonight, with regular screenings continuing tomorrow.
