Children arrested for stealing from cars in UAQ


Police have arrested five youngsters of different nationalities for stealing money and other valuables worth Dh50,000 from cars in Umm Al Quwain.

Major Salim Ali Halis, deputy head of the criminal investigations department at Umm Al Quwain police, said that two of the five children, all aged from 9 to 14, had no identification documents, two were from the Comoros Islands and one from Pakistan.

The group are accused of targeting cars during Friday prayers. They used the money to buy motorbikes, clothes and toys. The total value of all items stolen was Dh50,000 from six thefts.
