DUBAI // The Dubai attorney general yesterday ordered that the investigation into the alleged rape of a four-year-old girl on a school bus be speeded up.
A bus driver, a worker and a supervisor at a Dubai private school are being held in connection with the allegation, which came to light only last week, officials said.
The three Indians, aged 26, 37 and 44, were arrested and held on Thursday after the Indian girl's father reported the alleged assault. Police say that all the men have confessed.
The attorney general, Essam Issa al Humaidan, said in a news release that a "thorough and quick follow up to the technical reports will take place for a decision by prosecutors to be issued".
According to Dubai Police, the incident took place in November 2010 but was only reported after the family took the child for a medical check-up.
According to police, the three men raped the girl after she fell asleep on the bus. She was the last child on the vehicle.
Bur Dubai chief prosecutor Sami al Shamsi and senior prosecutor Ahmed al Attar are awaiting the results of forensic examinations and tests.
