Bush visit to UAE confirmed

The former US president is here on a private visit, a spokesman for the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi has confirmed.

George W Bush is in the UAE. The former US president, who served between 2001 and 2009, is here on a private visit, a spokesman for the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed on Monday.

No details of his schedule have been made public. 

The 43rd US president most recently visited the UAE in January 2008, a stop on a tour of the Middle East. He met Sheikh Khalifa as well as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. In Dubai he met Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
