Boat sinks in Dubai creek

A cargo boat laden with electronic products sunk in Dubai creek today, Dubai Police said. The 40-foot boat, which was heading from Port Rashid to Iran, had to return to Dubai after it developed leaks, according to Captain Yahya Hussein, of Dubai Police's Marine Rescue Division. "The boat started sinking near the customs check point at Dubai Creek," he said. "Efforts to save the cargo and boat failed as the boat was overloaded and suffered many leaks." The boat's six crew were unhurt. newsdesk@thenational.ae
