Arabian leopard cub born at Sharjah breeding centre

A female arabian leopard cub was successfully bred by the Breeding Centre for Arabian Endangered Wildlife in Sharjah last month.

This is the centre's 37th breed of this species since 1998. Of the 37, six did not survive and another six have been transferred to similar institutions in the region.

Cubs need permanent observation, as they are born blind and very vulnerable, said Paul Vercammen, the centre's operational manager.

The Arabian Leopard is listed as a Critically Endangered species with less than 250 mature individuals worldwide.
