Al Sufouh tramway 'is 43 per cent complete'

The Al Sufouh tramway is 43 per cent complete, the Roads and Transportation Authority said yesterday.

Phase I of the project is to be finished next year and will run between Mall of the Emirates and Knowledge Village.

When complete, the tramway will connect with The Palm Jumeirah monorail and three Metro stations along Sheikh Zayed Road.

The elevated tram network is to consist of 19 passenger stations. The fleet will have 25 trams, serving 5,000 passengers an hour. Each tram can accommodate about 300 passengers.
