Ajman driver escaped unharmed as car engulfed in flames

AJMAN // The driver of a car that was gutted by fire opposite Ajman Union Co-operative Society on Tuesday afternoon escaped without injury.

Ajman Civil Defence say the driver stopped the car and exited as soon as the sedan's engine began to emit plumes of black smoke.

Within minutes, his car was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Ajman Civil Defence arrived at the scene five minutes later and set about extinguishing the blaze and securing the road for the safety of other drivers.

A spokesman for civil defence said he suspected an engine fault was to blamed for the fire and urged motorists to keep fire extinguishers in their cars.

"The driver could have saved his car as well as his life if had a fire extinguisher and acted quickly," he said.
