ABU DHABI // A oil investment company in the capital has donated Dh4 million to supporting local schools and disabled athletes in the UAE.
Abu Dhabi-based international petroleum investment company Borealis said its social welfare fund would donate Dh2m to Emirates National Schools, an Abu Dhabi school group owned by Ministry of Presidential Affairs. A further Dh2m will be given to the UAE Disabled Sports Federation to raise awareness about the needs of the disabled.
The donation to schools will go towards nurturing enthusiasm for science, said Khadem Al Qubaisi, managing director and chairman of the Borealis supervisory board, in a statement on state news agency WAM.
Dr Kenneth Vedra, director general of the Emirates National Schools, said the donation would help the schools develop their educational programmes in science and engineering.
