ABU DHABI // A man caught with 3kg of hashish claimed the CID agent who arrested him had provided the drug and planned to smoke it with him, the Criminal Court heard yesterday.
It heard A, 22, an Emirati, was caught in a sting operation in which an officer posed as a customer after an anonymous tip.
The agents said that on the day of the arrest they saw the defendant jog out of his house with a white cloth bundle under his arm.
He rode in a car with one of the three agents, identified as N, who said he signalled his colleagues after the defendant showed him the substance inside the cloth was hashish. They then arrested him.
They agreed the defender was not the main dealer, identified as OM. He was not caught.
The case was adjourned until September 23 to hear to the defence.
