40 workers fall to their deaths in six months
AJMAN // At least 40 construction workers have fallen to their deaths in the first half of this year, emergency ward figures released yesterday show.
The 62,780 emergency cases seen by GMC Hospital in the first six months included 1,649 building site injuries, 724 people hurt in traffic accidents, seven drownings and 15 injured in fires.
Salah Al Junaibi, the deputy director of the hospital, said the number of building site falls was a great concern.
He said the hospital, the Ministry of Health and the Ajman Health Zone were working to expand the emergency ward.
