Everyone needs a hat if they are going to be outdoors. If you are looking for elegance rather than efficiency - in which case a baseball cap is just fine - then you face a problem. One solution is a genuine Panama hat, the type that comes rolled in its own container, from which it will emerge as crisp as the day it was made in Ecuador (not Panama). The other solution is to buy a hat you can wear without embarrassment for the journey - if not year-round.
