Emma Watson is best known as Hermione from the Harry Potter films.
Jasmine and rose are my favourite smells.
I love Covent Garden and Soho, which has such a lively, colourful atmosphere. England has amazing cinemas, libraries and bookshops.
My favourite time of day is twilight. I always get excited when it goes from day into night.
I never learnt to play an instrument and I would love to be able to sit at the piano or play the guitar.
The book on my bedside table is Patti Smith's Just Kids. I absolutely love it.
I love museums especially Whitechapel Gallery, the Tate in London and the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
Shakespeare would be my ideal dinner guest because he's so mysterious. We know so little about his life and who he was as a person.
Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Tracey Emin are my favourite artists.
I loved filming the ad for Lancôme's Trésor Midnight Rose in Paris. I was born there so it featured many of my favourite places: Café de Flore, Shakespeare and Company bookshop and walking along the Seine.
I adore any dish with pasta.
For casual wear I love Isabel Marant, APC, Agnès B and Chloé.
I exercise a lot, plus I love to swim and play field hockey and tennis. Dancing is also a passion.
Joni Mitchell is my favourite singer.
I've recently discovered macaroons, which are a real indulgence.

Style File: Emma Watson

For millions of fans, she is known only as Hermione, but since her rise to fame at the age of 9 in the Harry Potter films, Emma Watson has become so much more. English, but born in Paris, Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson has only just turned 21 but has many achievements under her belt: a Vogue cover girl, she made her modelling debut for Burberry's Autumn/Winter campaign in 2009; the British press named her "Best Dressed Woman in England" and "Style Icon 2011"; she was nominated as Best Actress at the 2011 Empire Awards for her performance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; and she was shortlisted for the People's Choice Awards. In March she was signed as the face of the cosmetics company Lancôme for her "unique and fresh beauty that incarnates the romantic heroine of the 21st century". She has recently taken a break from her degree at Brown University in the US to undertake studies in her hometown, Oxford. Aside from her academic pursuits, Watson has been busy working on two new films - My Week with Marilyn and Perks of Being a Wallflower. She talks to Jemma Nicholls about her life and passions.

EMMA'S WORLD

MY LIFE MOTTO IS... make the most of every opportunity that comes my way and live every day to the full. BEAUTY IS... something that comes from within. You can really look beautiful only if you feel beautiful on the inside and it shows through your face, the way you move and the way you hold yourself. BEING A WOMAN TODAY IS... amazing. We have so many options and there's nothing really that people say you can't do anymore, which is incredible. LOVE IS... everywhere. You don't have to sit around and wait for it to be with one person. I think you can love lots of different people in different ways. IN 10 YEARS' TIME I HOPE TO BE... making brilliant and interesting films. ELEGANCE IS... the way clothing is cut. It's the way a woman wears her clothes. MY GREATEST QUALITY IS... my work ethic. MY BIGGEST SHORTCOMING IS... being very impatient. I RELAX BY... reading.
