EIB celebrates National Day with reduced rates

Emirates Islamic Bank (EIB) is celebrating the UAE's 41st National Day with a range of special rates and zero per cent processing fees for customers.

The offer, which runs until December 6, includes a waiver of annual fees for the first year on credit cards and a flat 3.99 per cent profit rate on personal loans, one of the lowest on the market.

EIB, the Islamic banking arm of the Emirates NBD Group, has also reduced its profit rate on home finance to 4.1 per cent.

"We have devised a unique way to make the 41st UAE National Day a memorable occasion for our loyal customers," says Faisal Aqil, the deputy chief executive of consumer and wealth management at EIB.

"The limited-period promotional rates and discounts on all the products and services is our special way of expressing our appreciation to our customers."

Credit and debit cardholders can also benefit from discounts at more than 100 restaurants, while RTA credit cardholders can travel free of charge on Dubai's Metro tomorrow.

The RTA credit card has a built-in NOL transit chip, allowing passengers to ride the Metro, RTA buses and RTA water buses.

National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the biggest lender in the capital, has launched a community programme to help empower women in business.

The Fursati Economic Empowerment programme offers women educational seminars to help them build their careers and businesses. Fursati means "my opportunity".

"Through this programme, the National Bank of Abu Dhabi will offer its intellectual and financial capital to support the economic empowerment of UAE women," says Ehab Anis Hassan, NBAD's group chief human resources officer.

"We aim to make this a comprehensive community programme that extends to youth as well as women in business and careers, including the bank's women employees."

Launched in association with the Dubai Business Women's Council, the bank says the programme aims to equip women and youth with "essential skills in today's challenging financial environment".

The programme includes one training session per month, as well as youth-focused sessions that will teach them the basics of business.
